A Tandem Skydive

Welcome

The drop zone is located just outside Deneysville on the Vaal Dam and without any question has to rate as one of the most scenic drop zones in the world. The view of the Vaal Dam from the air is absolutely breathtaking.

The club operates a turbine aircraft which takes 9 skydivers to an altitude of 11,000ft in approximately 15 minutes.

Tandem Skydives

Whether you are serious about taking up skydiving, or merely looking for an once off adrenaline rush, a tandem skydive is the way to go.

The rundown and briefing on the ground takes about 10 mins and then you board the aircraft with your Tandem Master. In the aircraft, the Tandem Master will attach your harness to his, then you’re good to go! The aircraft journey takes around 15 mins and the leave height is typically 11,000 feet, which is about 3.5 km.

You exit the aircraft with the Tandem Master in full control, you don’t have to bother with a thing other than taking in the panorama and appreciating the flight! Throughout the 40 second free-fall you will reach speeds of up to 200kph with a camera skydiver right by you, capturing every minute of your free-fall.

At the end of the free-fall the Tandem Master will open the parachute (made to carry 2 individuals) and enjoy a 7 minute canopy trip to the ground. The Tandem Maser takes the responsibility of flying and landing the parachute securely, you merely appreciate the journey back to the landing area.

After landing our dedicated video editor downloads the content and 20 mins later you get a professionally made video on a nifty USB to show your family and friends.

All Tandem Masters are skilled skydivers that have been in the sport a long time. To become a Tandem Master in South Africa the prospect requires a minimum of 800 jumps to become qualified, followed by extensive training and instruction. Rest assured, the Tandem Master that takes you for your tandem skydive is qualified to do so and is an extremely knowledgeable skydiver with loads of experience.

Static Line Course

Sport skydiving started in the mid-fifties and static line training has been around since then. Needless to say, it is a tried, trusted and proven method of teaching people to jump out of a perfectly good aircraft!

A static line jump involves having a parachute on your back, with a strong line attached to your parachute on one end and hooked into the aircraft on the other end. As you exit the aircraft the line extends and automatically opens your parachute. From that point onward, you fly and land the parachute by yourself.

Training is always conducted on Saturdays and takes a full day. The morning consists of all the theory required to execute a safe parachute jump, while the afternoon consists of evaluation where candidates are put through their paces with simulated emergency situations on the ground.

This is followed by the first jump which normally takes place around 16h00, after this you receive your certificate and relax!

You then decide to either progress through the Static Line Progression Programme or move on to the Accelerated Free-fall Progression Programme.

AFF Course

Want to learn to skydive on the fast track? This is for you!

After completion of Ground School (approx 6 hours), your first jump will be from no less than 10,000ft with two qualified instructors to assist you whilst free-falling. You will then open your own parachute and the instructor on the ground will guide you in for a safe landing. The AFF Progression Programme consists of 10 levels. Should you complete 7 levels successfully, you can be jumping by yourself after one weekend.

Upon completing your AFF Progression Programme, you move on to completing your ISPs (Intermediate Skills Programme). This consists of 7 levels and teaches you how to fly safely with another skydiver.

When you have completed your AFF and ISP and racked up 25 jumps, you qualify for your A-License. The A-License in skydiving gives you the freedom to safely skydive at any student rated drop zone in the country.
